Organising a company

When I was working at Badenoch & Clark, I was asked to create detailed organisation charts of the company and its teams for both internal and external use. If you’ve ever had to make an org chart, you’ll know that as soon as you’ve finished it, someone new joins or someone leaves, and you’re updating it again.

I needed a system that could clearly show the structure and hierarchy of the organisation while being easy to update without requiring a redesign each time.

Being a Tube map designerd, I wondered whether the principles of train route maps could be applied to solve the problem.
